Students in Spanish 1 wrote pen pal letters in Spanish to students in Toledo, Spain. This is a project that gives students the opportunity to use what they are learning in a real scenario.
The letters were sent electronically to the school in Spain, and it is the first of many communications they will have next semester.
WHS FCCLA is currently working on a campaign with MODOT to help make our roads a safer place! This campaign could help us win a grant up to $5000 for our school. This is a community wide competition in Missouri, for all teens (even those who aren't driving yet!) and adults.

On Tuesday, December 5th, Ms. Gyles' class and unified partners participated in a unified prom at Berry Acres. Students had to opportunity to walk the red carpet, dance, and meet Santa! Students and their partners danced the day away! Thank you to Odessa Schools for putting on such a great event for our students.

You have the opportunity to attend a community leadership class. In this CLIMB High program, you will learn basic leadership skills
learn problem solving and tour different parts of Johnson County, Whiteman Air Force Base and the State Capitol.

FTA would like to recognize Pete Claas this month for his efforts and contributions to the classroom and lives of the students at WHS.
FTA members believe Mr. Claas deserves this because Mr. Claas is a dedicated and kind teacher. He has served students for over 30 years as a teacher and coach. He even came back out of retirement to teach!
Thanks for all you do Mr. Claas; you make a difference in the lives of so many students.

Mrs. Kearfott's R3 class worked together to organize a pet care donation drive and volunteered at Old Drum Animal Shelter.
They collected toys, leashes, treats, and puppy pads and then worked with shelter employees to walk dogs, clean kennels, and tidy the office.
