Last week at the Missouri School Counselor Association fall conference, the WHS Counseling Department was recognized as one of the recipients of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Gysbers Comprehensive School Counseling Award. This award recognizes Missouri school buildings that have demonstrated the commitment to be fully implemented. This prestigious award is a five-year distinction. Buildings may reapply after five years.
Along with the above award, they were also awarded the Dr. Norman C. Gysbers Nationally Recognized Missouri Program (NRM), pronounced “The Norm”, is the national recognition award that Missouri school counseling programs may earn. The award is for individual schools whose school counseling programs have reached a level of implementation that emphasizes the positive impact of the school counseling program on student success and the school community. Achieving this award not only garners state recognition but also national recognition as a RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program) Award through the American School Counselor Association.
