Attention Seniors: If the idea of filling out the FAFSA and applying for financial aid seems overwhelming, you might check out the event State Fair Community College is having on October 19th from 3-7 pm. They are hosting a FAFSA Frenzy event where you and your parents can get lots of financial aid questions answered.

 FAFSA Frenzy helps thousands of Missouri students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid every year. The FAFSA is the primary form used by federal, state, and institutional financial assistance programs in determining an individual's eligibility for grants, loans, work-study, and scholarships.

Scholarship Information

Listed below are local scholarships as we hear about them. Please check back regularly or scroll to the bottom and subscribe to be notified of updates.

Every Month:

Optimist Club of Warrensburg - Optimist Teen of the Month forms are available in the counseling office. If selected, you will be required to attend a dinner with one or both parents/guardians.  Meals will be provided for winner and a maximum of two guests.  You will receive a plaque and a check for $50.00. An announcement will be placed in the Daily Star Journal.

September Deadlines:
P.E.O. STAR Women’s Scholarship-Deadline September 26-Must be a female student in her high school senior year, have a cumulative gpa of 3.0 and exhibit skills in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and career goals. Applications are available in the counseling office.

October Deadlines:
Horatio Alger Scholarship - October 25 -
Students must have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.  Other eligibility criteria and applications are available online at scholars.horatioalger.org.

November Deadlines:
2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Award-Deadline November 7-
Apply online at www.nassp.org/spirit. These awards recognize students in middle and high school grades who have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service.

The Show-Me Chapter of the Soil & Water Conservation Society-Deadline November 27-
offers a $2000 scholarship for a high school senior, or undergraduate, planning to major in conservation or a natural resources-related field.  This is an essay contest.  Information can be found at http://www.moswcs.org/scholarship/.  Applications must be postmarked by November 27th (Monday after Thanksgiving).

January Deadlines:
Conservation Foundation of Missouri Scholarship-deadline January 31st-
Five $1000 scholarships to high school seniors or undergraduates in different natural resources areas.  Preference will be given to those demonstrating financial need.  Information can be found on the same website, at http://www.moswcs.org/scholarship/. 

April Deadlines:

Missouri Patriot Guard Riders Scholarship-Deadline April 1-Must be the son/daughter of a member of the US Military lost in the line of duty, or who has passed after their honorable discharge, or a  first responder (police/fireman) lost in the line of duty or a son/daughter of a veteran disabled in the line of duty. Applications are available from Mrs. King in the counseling office.


May Deadlines:

Injury Lawyers Scholarship-Deadline May 31- Scholarship specific to students who have been affected by a personal injury. Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. To view the application and more information about this scholarship you can visit:  https://www.bestinjurylawyer.com/injury-scholarship/ .


June Deadlines:

Horatio Alger Association Career & Technical Scholarship-Deadline June 15-Must be enrolled in a career or technical degree/certificate granting program in Fall 2017 that will lead to employment, demonstrate financial need; applicants must be Pell Grant eligible. The college financial aid process is starting early. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) can now be submitted as early as October 1.

The Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE) offers information about state scholarship, grant and loan opportunities as well as information about colleges and college programs.  Go to:  http://www.dhe.mo.gov/ppc/grants/ .

American Legion Scholarships are available online at www.missourilegion.org. Basic criteria for scholarship awards are as follows: Missouri resident, under the age of 21, unmarried and a descendant of a veteran with at least ninety days active service in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard, who received an Honorable Discharge for such service. Scholarship opportunities for students in Missouri:
